American Military Targeted a 'Big Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Asserted Without Providing Specifics.

Former President Trump has asserted that US military assets hit a "significant facility" in the South American country in recent days. However, the ex-leader offered no details on the exact nature or site of the strike, and there has been no additional clarification from his team.

Vague Remarks Offered During a Radio Interview

"US forces just destroyed – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a major complex, where the vessels come from. Recently, we knocked that out. So we targeted them decisively," Trump allegedly told GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Significance of a Verified Strike

Should a US military action is verified, it would represent the initial land strike since the US Department of Defense began a increase of American military presence in the region to disrupt drug traffickers that the Trump administration asserts operate under the direction of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This stated mission of the military buildup has since morphed into a blockade aimed at hindering the country's oil exports.

Online Video and Official Claims

Trump has for some time indicated that American military units are ready to expand the operations by attacking objectives within Venezuela, a move that would theoretically require congressional authorization.

Video footage posted online on 24 December appeared to show an detonation said to be from an industrial area in a Venezuelan state. But, the footage or the facility has not been confirmed by third parties.

An administration official allegedly informed a news network that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Response and Ongoing Strategic Posture

The Caracas administration has remained silent on the alleged strike the former president described. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from within the country about it.

The buildup of US military in the region – a posture certain officials have termed a sea blockade – represents the largest naval operation of his time in office.

Sources have avoided from describing the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that approximately 15,000 personnel are positioned across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement current sanctions.
