Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
